Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a training?
Call or contact us and let us know which training you would like, date and time, how long, location, audience.  Our calendar fills up quickly so it is best to plan several weeks or months ahead.  We will set up a phone conference with you to discuss logistics and fee.

 Once we have agreed on a date and fee, we will send you a Letter of Agreement that will include;
  1. Date, time and location of training
  2. Number of participants attending training
  3. Presentation topic and title
  4. Statement that workshop fee and all expenses during travel will be paid by organizer (meals, mileage, airline tickets, meals, parking, rental car, pre-survey if requested)
  5. AV confirmation (LCD projector, screen and sound. and possibly two microphones)
  6. Handouts will be sent prior to the training to be copied by organizer
  7. Cancellation policy (see below)
  8. Terms of payment. Trainers will be reimbursed for expenses and receive training fee within 30 days of presentation)
Cancellation Policy:  More than 60 days prior to presentation: No charge other than any pre-purchased airline tickets. 59-31 days prior to presentation: 25% of the training fee will be charged plus any pre-purchased airline tickets. 30 days prior to the training: 75% of the training fee will be charged plus any pre-purchased airline tickets.

What meeting room is best for your training?
We have trained in a bowling alley, restaurants, stages and tight conference rooms.  The quality of the meeting space is important. Participants must be able to be comfortably seated (round tables preferred) with enough space to move around the room for small group work.

What is the ideal number of participants for the training?
These trainings can be offered to groups as small as 15 people and as big as 400-500.  Providing the meeting space is well suited to the audience. For larger groups over 50 people we must have two microphones.  For Mental Health First Aid Class we have to have a minimum of 15 people attend with a maximum of 30.

What is the length of time for each training?
It depends on the training and your group needs. We usually do half day (3-4 hours) or full day trainings. The Mental Health First Aid training is national curriculum and must be 8 hours. If we are traveling out of State we would prefer to half or full day trainings and/or present to different groups in the community to maximize our time and your budget.

What equipment do you need for the training?
  • LCD projector
  • screen
  • sound
  • two microphones for groups over 50

Are there any handouts and take away tools included in your training?
Yes, we have lots of handouts, tools and resources to share. We will send you the handouts for you to copy prior to the training, and many are available for download on our Resources page.

Do you always train as Co-Trainers?
Yes, we train together because we do role plays and are interactive with the audience (and we think we are really funny as a comedy team!).  We like to train as a team because if an audience member is triggered by something said in the training one of us can step out and talk with the participant. If you are scheduling a Mindfulness and Yoga training, Beth is a Registered Yoga Teacher and Kay is a Mindfulness Educator.  We are both certified to teach Compassion Fatigue, Trauma, Mindfulness and Mental Health First Aid trainings.

Do you have any flyers prepared to promote this training?
Yes, we can send you a flyer template in Publisher for you to fill in the details and promote the training.

Can you provide Certificates of Training Attendance?
Yes, we can prepare you with signed Certificates if you provide us with a list of attendees at least one week prior to the training. We can also provide these Certificates after the training.  Mental Health First Aid training has a 3 year certification and participants are provided with a certificate.

Are Continuing Education Units (CEUs) available for the training?
We can work with you on this for your specific discipline and State requirements but we would need at least one month to complete the CEU process prior to the training.

Do you have a pre-survey that can be completed prior to the training to determine a individual and organizational assessment for compassion fatigue, burn out and vicarious trauma?
Yes, we do have an anonymous survey that individuals can complete and send back to us on-line. This information gives us specific areas to discuss during the training. There is an additional fee for the pre-survey.

Is the Training evaluated?
Yes, we do have participants complete an evaluation of the training. If requested we can provide a summary of the evaluations for you.

How do participants register for the training?
We can provide a flyer to promote the training and identify the registration process on this flyer.  We can register participants or have them register through your organization.

Can you facilitate a Staff Retreat in a relaxing setting combining Compassion Fatigue, Vicarious Trauma, Mindfulness and Yoga?
Yes, we would love to facilitate a training in a retreat setting! We like to provide more interactive and experiential group and individual activities such as yoga and meditation versus the traditional class room power point type of training.

Do you have experience presenting to nurses, social workers, hospice and other helping professionals in the health care field?
Yes, we have done many presentations to staff in the health care field talking to staff about individual self-care and also how this might be supported organizationally by Supervisors and Leadership.
